Micron
Micron
Micron is the main way we measure wool fibre thickness. It tells you how fine or coarse the wool is, and it’s expressed in micrometres (µm). For example, superfine Merino might be 17 micron or less, perfect for luxury garments, while broader wool at 28 micron might be used for carpets. The lower the micron, the softer the wool — and usually the higher the price.
